(John 1:19-28) Who Are You? - John the Baptist's Identity and Witness

Jul 12, 2026    Jeremy Nelson

This is the livestream of our Sunday morning worship service from 7/12/2026. In this sermon, we are in John 1:19-28, and here John the Baptist emphatically declares both who he is not and who he actually is. He also mentions the reason for his baptism ministry. All of who John is and what he has been sent to do is in relation to the Lord Jesus. He was sent to be a forerunner for the Lord Jesus and to be His witness. John baptizes people as an expression of their repentance in preparation for the coming of the Lord Jesus. While John the Baptist was very important in God’s plan, he did not see himself as anything special. In great humility, he points people away from himself, and points them to the Lord Jesus, to where true greatness is found. The call for us in this passage is to truly know Christ and to humbly witness to Him.
